YouTube fans and stars dig the gonzo comedy film starring Dave High!

HOLLYWOOD (July 26) The new nonfiction comedy film High There was a surprise high point for thousands of young fans at the sixth annual VidCon, the social media and online video conference and celebration at the Anaheim Convention Center.

The three-day gathering of fans, stars, creators, industry professionals and media wrapped up yesterday at the venue a stone's throw from Disneyland. Vidcon featured more than 300 YouTube creators and stars, corporate carpetbaggers including ABC, NBC and Nickelodeon, tens of thousands of fans -- and a celebration of High There by stars and fans alike!

The High There team, led by executive producer and public relations guru Sam Peters, was a familiar sight amid the displays, parties, lectures and appearances on Friday and Saturday, working the crowd inside and outside the convention center.  

Highlights of the promotion included a "Find Dave High" contest, "High There-holding" Instagram photos and a DVD giveaway.

YouTube stars, including Bradlee Wannemacher, Johnni Riddlin, Dylan Leonte and Ghetto Vader, posed with the distinctive BRINKvision DVD, reposting their Instagram and Twitter photos to fans across the country and around the world.

The stars of High There, Dave High and Roland Jointz, might seem a generation or two removed from the likes of Tyler Oakley and Jenna Marbles, but filmmakers Wayne Darwen and Henry Goren have a special affinity for the social media crowd.  High There began as a YouTube phenomenon, first attracting attention in its earliest editing stages, when a trailer was posted and attracted more than a million views.

High There has attracted more attention, views and sales thanks to relentless advertising on social media sites including Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr and Facebook. 

A number of new High There trailers are popular on YouTube.

High There is a Sam Peters International Productions Unlimited and Good Story Productions presentation of a Rat Lung picture. It was released by BRINKvision on VOD and limited edition DVD on June 23rd. It has received many positive reviews from critics, including a rave from the movie website A Bucket of Corn, which called High There "a perfect film."
